Lyrics / Prompt

I think Jazz got in my blood as a liddy biddy kid sittin' on my black mamma’s knee
by an open window facing Basin Street down in old New Orleans.
I'd get so excited I'd jump off mama's knee and start dancing to the music and the
beat beat beat of the drums. Then I'd fall down exhausted but when Ella would start to
sing A Tisket A Tasket I lost my Yellow Basket, I'd sing along with her.,
But when Lady Day would sing Strange Fruit that would make me cry.
Mama would then pick me up and hug me and kiss me and I'd feel better.
Yeah that Jazz is in my blood, but the blues is in my soul . . .
